Jacobsen expands dealer network and sales staff

In its continuing efforts to build and develop relationships with customers, industry associations and dealers, Jacobsen, a Textron Company, recently added to its dealer network and sales staff.

Jacobsen added two dealers to its global network: Marks Golf Cars will serve customers in Montana and Scott Turf will support customers in western Virginia and the eastern side of West Virginia.

Adam Smith
Adam Smith is Jacobsen’s newest Territory Sales Manager, responsible for supporting dealers and U.S. customers in Missouri, southern Illinois, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota and Canadian customers in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Adam comes to Jacobsen with 15 years of experience in the golf industry, holding sales management positions at Rain Bird, Bernhard and Outdoor Equipment Company.

Tony Grasso
Tony Grasso recently started as Territory Sales Manager, responsible for supporting dealers and customers in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey and portions of New York. Grasso comes to Jacobsen with 30 years of experience in the golf industry, with the majority of that time as a  superintendent at Metropolis CC and Willow Ridge CC, both in New York.

Joey Foley
Joseph Foley was hired as Product Sales Demonstrator and will support dealers in West Virginia, Virginia, Delaware and Maryland on product demonstrations, field days, product road shows and other events. Joseph will be based in Lynchburg, Va. Foley comes to Jacobsen from The Badin Inn and GC in North Carolina, where he served as superintendent. Foley also served in the U.S. Army, completing tours of Iraq in 2003 and 2005.

“Our strong 2012 proves that our strategy of building relationships is working,” said Ric Stone, Vice President of Sales for Jacobsen. “We are continuing our momentum into 2013 by further expanding our sales and support staff. Our service and support must be at the same high level of quality as our world-class equipment.”

Jacobsen says, "here's $500!" to 30 students

I still remember when I was in college, and I got the letter from them telling me I was to be the recipient of a journalism award that included a scholarship. 


Likewise, there are 30 turf students out there who just had a similar experience courtesy of Jacobsen.

From Jacobsen's press release: 

Jacobsen recently awarded over 30 college students in turfgrass management programs with $500 scholarships. Recipients were notified by Jacobsen on July 1, 2012.

Candidates from across the United States and Canada submitted essays and professor recommendations for consideration. The final list included students from 23 different schools, including large universities like The Ohio State University, Colorado State University and Kansas State University to smaller schools like Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Georgia and Kwantlen Polytechnic University in British Columbia, Canada. Jacobsen adds dealer

Jacobsen today announced a new dealer for the sale of its equipment in the Maryland, Virginia and Delaware areas.

Horizon Distributors, Inc., a full-service distributor of landscape and irrigation products, has announced its expansion into the mid-Atlantic territories with the acquisition of the Jacobsen product line from G.L. Cornell Company.   

“Horizon has a proven business model based around customer satisfaction. We are confident they will make significant strides in this market due to this commitment to customer service, highly experienced personnel and dedication to the golf and turf market,” said Ric Stone, Jacobsen’s Vice President of Sales.

Breaking news: Withers named president of Jacobsen, Wilkinson to retire


David Withers has been promoted to the position of president of Jacobsen, effective October 1, 2011. Withers has been serving as managing director of the Ransomes division of Jacobsen, located in the United Kingdom, since January 2005, overseeing international operations for all Jacobsen brands as well as the E-Z-GO brand in Europe.

“I’m very excited about this opportunity. Having worked in the golf and turf maintenance industry for over 25 years, 19 of those with the Jacobsen team, this appointment is what I have always aspired to do. I look forward to working with the team to grow our market share around the world and continuing to establish Jacobsen as a leader in turf maintenance products,” Withers says.

Withers joined Textron in 1992 as a regional sales manager for Jacobsen in the UK. In 1996, he was promoted to the position of national accounts manager, where he focused on developing business with key customers across Europe. In 2002, he was promoted to the position of sales and marketing director before his appointment in 2005 as managing director of Ransomes Jacobsen.
